What's new
- amazon.de is live. Create a brand for Germany, add ASINs, and each one is checked about once every 24 hours in every location you pick. It needs a paid plan.
- Track by city or exact postcode. Berlin, Munich, Hamburg, Cologne and Dresden are one click each, and you can enter any German postcode of your own.
- Euros and German titles. Who holds the Buy Box in each location, the price in euros, delivery dates, and the product title as Amazon prints it.
- The free checker takes amazon.de too. Paste an amazon.de link and pick 3 to 5 German cities. No account needed.
Buy Box Checker now covers the UK, Canada, Ireland, Italy and Germany alongside the United States. Customers have asked us for Germany, and it is our second marketplace in a language other than English. Tracking works the way it does everywhere else. The new part, as with Italy, was reading pages written in another language.
How to start tracking amazon.de
amazon.de needs a paid plan. The Free plan tracks amazon.com only. The plans are in the pricing section.
- In your dashboard, click Add Brand and choose Germany under Country. A brand belongs to one marketplace, so Germany gets a brand of its own.
- Enter your Amazon storefront name exactly as amazon.de shows it, capital letters included.
- Add your ASINs and pick locations: the cities above, or exact postcodes under "Advanced: exact postcodes", within your plan's limits.
What you see for a German listing
For each ASIN in each location: whether your storefront holds the Buy Box, who holds it when you do not, the German product title, the price in euros, and the free and fastest delivery dates Amazon prints for that postcode. The cities you track are pinned on a map of Germany. A location tracked by exact postcode appears in the table, not on the map.
Amazon's German seller help says customers can see a different Featured Offer, its name for the Buy Box, depending on where they ship to and whether they are a Prime member. A product page opened from one address shows you one of them.
One example from our tests: the same mattress, read about half a minute apart, had Amazon in the Buy Box at €54.90 for Helgoland and another seller at €52.90 for Büsingen. Both are unusual addresses, an island and an enclave inside Switzerland. Across Munich, Hamburg, Cologne and Dresden, the difference we saw most was the delivery date: tomorrow in some cities, later in the week in others.
The free checker takes amazon.de too
The free Buy Box checker now accepts amazon.de listings. Paste an amazon.de product link that starts with https:// and the country switches to Germany by itself. Otherwise, pick Germany yourself. Choose 3 to 5 of the cities and you get, for each one, who holds the Buy Box, the price in euros and, when Amazon shows one, the fastest delivery estimate in days.
How we checked it
We read 114 amazon.de listings twice, once in German and once in English, in seven places from Berlin to Helgoland, on a weekday afternoon and early in the morning: 147 pairs in all. Seller, Buy Box price and every delivery date matched on all 147 (13 of them had no Buy Box in either language). The test also caught the wording on competing sellers' offers, which we fixed before launch. Some German wording never appeared, such as a refusal to deliver or "heute" (today).
What is the same, and what to know
- A check is a check. One ASIN in one location is one check against your plan, in Germany as anywhere else. Each one is read about once every 24 hours.
- Alerts come in one daily digest, at the hour you set, by email and optionally Slack, Google Chat, Discord or a webhook.
- Read-only, no Seller Central connection. We read public product pages and never ask for an Amazon login.
- English product. The dashboard, the emails and support are in English. If a reading on a German listing looks off, tell us.
Everything else about Buy Box monitoring is unchanged. If you would rather read in German, we published a guide to the Buy Box on amazon.de: Amazon Buy Box: Was sie ist, warum sie verloren geht und wie Sie sie Stadt für Stadt prüfen. And if there is a marketplace you need next, tell us which one.
Frequently asked questions
Can I track amazon.de on the Free plan?
No. Tracking any marketplace other than amazon.com needs a paid plan, and the Free plan tracks amazon.com only. The free Buy Box checker is separate: it accepts an amazon.de listing without an account, as a one-off check.
Which German locations can I track?
Berlin, Munich, Hamburg, Cologne and Dresden are offered as cities, and you can enter an exact German postcode instead. Each location is checked separately, and each ASIN in each location counts as one check, within your plan's limits.
Do I need a German seller account to track amazon.de?
No. Buy Box Checker reads public product pages, so there is no Seller Central login and no connection to Amazon's seller APIs for any marketplace. You can track your own listings on amazon.de, or anyone else's, by adding the ASINs.
Is the dashboard in German?
No. The dashboard, the emails and support are in English. Product titles appear in German because we read the German page, and prices on a German brand are shown in euros.
Does Germany use more checks than other marketplaces?
No. One ASIN in one location is one check against your plan, whichever country it is in. Each one is checked about once every 24 hours, and alerts arrive in one daily digest.
What did you check on amazon.de before switching it on?
We read 114 amazon.de listings twice, once in German and once in English, 147 pairs in all, in seven places from Berlin to Helgoland, on a weekday afternoon and early in the morning. Seller, Buy Box price and every delivery date matched on all 147 (13 had no Buy Box in either language). That describes what we saw, not a guarantee: some German wording, such as a refusal to deliver or "heute" (today), never appeared.
