Buy Box Monitoring

Amazon Buy Box Monitoring, Location by Location

Amazon picks a Featured Offer per delivery address, so one national percentage cannot tell you where you are losing. Buy Box Checker monitors every ASIN in every city and postcode you choose, and reports what changed once a day.

Free plan available, monitoring two preset US cities: Austin and Denver. Paid plans unlock the cities and postcodes you pick. A card on file is required but never charged on the Free plan. The one-off check needs no account at all.

A National Average Hides the Locations That Are Losing

Seller Central and most monitoring tools report a single Buy Box percentage for the whole country. Here is what that average is covering up, measured on Buy Box Checker's own tracked products.

45.4%

of 1,774 tracked products currently have at least one location where the Buy Box is lost or suppressed. Point in time, not a window.

20.6%

of US products checked in two or more locations showed a different Buy Box status across them on the same day. Mean of 18 days, daily range 16.2% to 23.3%.

33.9%

of the 8,397 tracked product and location pairs are not currently winning the Buy Box.

First-party figures from Buy Box Checker's own monitoring, pulled August 15, 2026. The three rates count different things and are not restatements of each other. Full method and live aggregates on the research page.

What Every Check Records

One check is one ASIN in one location. Each one captures the whole state of the Featured Offer, so a loss comes with the reason attached instead of just a red flag.

Buy Box ownership, per location

Who holds the Featured Offer in each city or postcode you track, not one blended national percentage.

Regional suppression

The case where Amazon features no offer at all and shows See All Buying Options, which can happen in some locations while others look fine.

Hijackers, with an allowlist

An unauthorized seller taking your Featured Offer is named on every plan, and flagged as a suspected hijacker on the paid plans. Sellers you mark as authorized never trigger a false alarm.

The competing offer

After a loss we snapshot the competing seller offers so you can see the price and fulfilment you were beaten by.

Delivery estimates

The promised delivery date in each location, which is often the real reason a distant region went to a competitor.

Stock warnings

Low stock and out of stock signals on the featured offer, recorded per check so you can see when scarcity started.

Best Sellers Rank

BSR and its seven day movement, with configurable drop alerts per account and per ASIN.

Product page changes

Title, image, and bullet point edits captured as before and after snapshots, so an unannounced listing change is visible.

Badge changes

Gaining or losing Amazon's Choice or Best Seller on a tracked ASIN.

How Often We Check, Stated Plainly

Once every 24 hours, per ASIN, per location

Checks run on that cadence on every plan, including the paid tiers. Buy Box Checker does not offer event-triggered or sub-daily monitoring, and no plan upgrade changes the checking frequency. What a plan changes is delivery, not frequency. Plenty of tools in this category advertise otherwise, so it is worth being direct about it.

Everything that changed arrives as one daily briefing

You pick the hour. On paid plans it lands by email and, if you connect one, Slack, Google Chat, Discord, or a raw webhook for Zapier or n8n. The Free plan sees the same changes in the dashboard on login rather than receiving them. See how alerts work.

Four marketplaces, 116 locations in use

amazon.com, amazon.co.uk, amazon.ca, and amazon.ie, tracked by city or by exact postcode. Marketplaces other than amazon.com need a paid plan. The location count and the 764,105 checks run since January 2026 are first-party figures pulled August 15, 2026.

No Seller Central Connection, No API Keys

Buy Box Checker reads public Amazon product pages. It does not connect to Seller Central, the Selling Partner API, or the Advertising API. Setup is pasting in ASINs and the locations you care about. Two consequences follow from that: onboarding takes minutes rather than an integration project, and you can monitor any ASIN on the marketplace, including a competitor's.

The trade-off is that Buy Box Checker sees what a shopper sees, not your internal sales data. It reports who holds the Featured Offer in a location, not your units sold.

Buy Box Monitoring FAQ

What does Buy Box Checker actually monitor?
Every ASIN you add is checked in every location you add it to. For each check we record who holds the Featured Offer, whether it is suppressed, the winning price, the delivery estimate, any stock warning on the featured offer, and the Best Sellers Rank. Two things are tracked as changes rather than per-check records: we hold the current Amazon's Choice and Best Seller badge state on the ASIN and alert when a badge is gained or lost, and changes to the product page itself, including title, images, and bullet points, are snapshotted and diffed.
Does Buy Box monitoring need my Amazon Seller Central account?
No. Buy Box Checker reads public Amazon product pages and never connects to Seller Central, the Selling Partner API, or the Advertising API. That means setup is a paste of ASINs and locations, and it also means you can monitor any ASIN, including a competitor's.
How often does monitoring run?
Once every 24 hours per ASIN, per location, on every plan. There is no faster tier and no event-triggered checking. A monitoring cadence of once a day is the right fit for catching a regional loss, a hijacker, or a suppression that would otherwise run unnoticed for weeks. It is not the right fit if you need to react within minutes of a price move.
Why monitor the same ASIN in more than one location?
Amazon picks the Featured Offer per delivery address, so the winner can differ city by city. Across Buy Box Checker's own US products checked in two or more locations on a given day, 20.6% showed a different Buy Box status across those locations on that same day. That is a mean of 18 days ending August 15, 2026, over roughly 716 multi-location products a day. A single national figure averages those locations away.
Which Amazon marketplaces can be monitored?
amazon.com, amazon.co.uk, amazon.ca, and amazon.ie, with city and postcode level tracking in each. Marketplaces other than amazon.com require a paid plan. International rows must carry a postcode, because without one Amazon picks the delivery location itself and the reading is not reproducible.
Is monitoring the same thing as alerts?
Monitoring is the checking and the history. Alerts are the delivery of what changed. Every plan is monitored, and the results are always visible in the dashboard. Outbound alerts by email, Slack, Google Chat, Discord, or webhook are a paid-plan feature; the Free plan sees its alerts in the dashboard on login rather than receiving them.
